What is Dynamic Route Planning?
In conventional delivery route planning, logistics managers use pen and paper methods to plan day-to-day dispatches and come up with fixed delivery routes for their delivery agents. However, with changing consumer expectations of faster and on-demand deliveries, this method is not ideal as it cannot accommodate last-minute on-demand requests. Dynamic route planning is the ability to include last-minute customer requests with previously scheduled orders and reroute dynamically to customer locations.
Dynamic route planning is effective and useful for carrying out successful last-mile operations in e-commerce, food delivery, grocery delivery, home services, etc.
Benefits of implementing dynamic route planning in your supply chain
The new wave of coronavirus has made life tough again and hopes of easing restrictions have taken a back seat. Social distancing norms have become much stricter and consumer behaviour has seen a massive transformation.
